Sizes like 30mm x 21mm, 30mm x 25mm, 40mm x 12mm, 40mm x 15mm and of course the most common size barcode label sizes 40mm x 28mm.

Not all products will accept this size label. In most cases it is way too big. The second reason why this size label is popular is most manufactured barcode label printers print at 203DPI. By choosing a printer that can only print this resolution restricts the sizes you can print so you are forced to use a larger label to fit the design. 300 DPI printers are generally 20% more expensive and offer a bit more flexibility in sizes you can use.

The last digit (13th digit) is called a check digit and is calculated based on the first 12 digit in sequence.
